On-location Photo Shoot

With an on-location photo shoot the sky’s the limit – we can go adventurous or keep it simple. Let’s have some fun together! Maybe a walk through the park (Jephson Gardens is a spot I love), hang out in your back garden or perhaps visit your favourite spot. I’m a big fan of shooting in urban areas (such as the Custard Factory in Birmingham) as you get a lot more visual interests in yours photos.

On-location photo shoots are quite versatile, they are great for family photography, child portraits, couples shoots and dog portraits. I also highly recommend them for fine-art portraiture, dating profile photos, model portfolios, press/promotional for business or actors, singers, artists etc.

Photo shoots are available on weekdays and weekends, in the morning from 8:00 am – 11 am or until 12 -1 pm if we are shooting in the shade. This is due to the quality of light, the softest and most beautiful light is in the morning. The golden hour (1 hour before sunset) is also an option as you get quite a lighting spectacle!

What is the best time of day to schedule an on-location photo shoot?

The best time to schedule an on-location photo shoot is in the morning from 8:00 am – 11 am or until 12 – 1 pm if we’re shooting in a well-shaded area. The morning has the best light as its soft and flattering. I highly recommend overcast days as its like having a giant softbox in the sky. Overly bright light should be avoided as they make for very unflattering images. The golden hour (1 hour before sunset) is also an option as you get lovely tones from the sunset.

Do you shoot in clients homes?

I do shoot in clients homes with a fill flash. However, the home would require a good quality of light via windows or skylights.

How do I prepare for an on-location photo shoot?

Applying ChapStick a few days before your photo shoot is recommended. Clean and well-moisturised skin is noticeable and often times can make or break an image – this is especially true if you have a darker skin type, as it helps with lighting.

How do I prepare children for an on-location photo shoot?

Remember that during a photo shoot there is no rush, so don’t worry if they are a bit grumpy or if they aren’t behaving. Try to avoid asking them to smile or say cheese – genuine smiles come from children that are calm, relaxed and having fun! Please feel free to bring a favourite toy, a snack or drink, but avoid chocolate as it can be a bit messy.

What should I wear?

Always wear well-pressed outfits that are comfortable and defines your style.

How much are additional digital images?

Digital images are sold in sets of 3, 6, 10 and 15. Prices are £105 and up. If you have a specific number of images in mind it is better to include these with a photo shoot as they discounted by 10%.

How much is retouching?

Retouching is typically £10 per image, but it depends on the requirements for the image. Please get in touch to discuss.

Can you arrange a make-up artist?

I’m able to arrange a make-up artist for your photo shoot. It is an additional £60. Advanced make-up techniques, such as body paint is available, please get in touch for a quote.
